TechnipFMC- a London based oil and gas company has reportedly received an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation contract from Petrobras, the leading operator of the Libra Consortium which was jointly established by Shell Brasil, Petrobras, CNOOC Limited, CNPC, and Pré-sal Petróleo SA, for the pre-salt Mero field that is located in Santos Basin, which is approximately 2,100 meters deep. The agreement includes engineering, procurement, designing, construction, installation as well as pre-commissioning of the rigid riser as well as the flowlines for production which comprises of water alternate gas wells. The contract also includes the installation and pre-commissioning of service flexible lines along with steel umbilicals and the hooking up and towing of FPSO. In a statement by Arnaud Pieton, President for Subsea at TechnipFMC, the new project aims at supporting Petrobras’s vision to foster development in the pre-salt region. Reportedly, TechnipFMC aims at levering synergies with the Mero 1 Project, that uses flexible lay vessels and an in-house grid, along with a considerable regional footprint in Brazil which comprises engineering, logistics, and spoolbase capabilities. As per sources, the offshore campaign is expected to commence in the year 2022.
