Aker Solutions & Aker BP to form alliance agreement for modification

Oil exploration and development companies Aker BP and Aker Solutions have recently announced that they will be forming an alliance to deliver a modification project on three of Aker BP’s fields. According to sources, the deal comes in the wake of the alliance agreement framework signed three years back between Aker Solutions and BP Norge. The modification project contract comprises all the refurbishment work related to offshore installations on the Skarv, Valhall, and Ula fields across the Norwegian North Sea, cite sources familiar with the matter. The fabrication workshops in Sandnessjoen and Egersund will also help in delivering work through the project, reported Aker Solutions. Olav Henriksen, Senior Vice President Projects in Aker BP, reported in a company statement that the firm has worked with Aker Solutions for several years and is pleased to establish this alliance – which is apparently the first as well as largest of its kind across the Norwegian shelf. He further added that the modification agreement is aligned with Aker BP’s strategy of entering into long-term agreements with its partners. Reports reveal that the working group for the Modification Alliance was formed in April with over 500 employees in Stavanger. The company is dependent on both its staff and suppliers to evolve in order to compete in the future market, reported Marie Ravnestad, VP modification projects at Aker BP. The VP further added that Aker Solutions and Aker BP have worked with each other to streamline work processes and both of them desired to establish an alliance for the modification projects. It has been reported that the duo have put in efforts to define the scope of work for each and every installation, as it is important to create an agreement with common incentives to acquire good results for both the parties.
