Berry Global Group, Inc., one of the leading suppliers of innovative nonwoven products, has reportedly collaborated with Medicom Group (Medicom) to design a manufacturing solution to facilitate the mass production of facial masks. Berry Global said in the statement that it is ensuring the supply of nonwovens for use in the mass production of millions of face masks annually under Medicoms agreement with the UK government. To achieve the same, at one of its UK facilities, Berry is investing in an ultramodern meltblown nonwovens product line, to be equipped with its proprietary charging technology in order to build up the capacity of material needed to manufacture European standard Type IIR, N99- equivalent and FFP3 Masks. The masks will be produced and sold under the European Kolmi brand of Medicom. Previously, the British government inked a long-term contract with Medicom to supply facial masks. The agreement confirmed that Medicom will be opening its new UK production plant later this summer. This move emphasizes that the governments focus is on securing supply chains that help ensure a local supply of PPE. This deal adds to Berrys growing list of partnerships aimed at expanding protection capacities and providing security for critical supply chains for the PPE Group. Curt Begle, President of Health, Hygiene, and Specialties Division at Berry said that Berry is deeply established in the UK and is pleased to support Medicom in opening its new facility and helping to improve safety and protection in the region well beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. Berry is a major global supplier of a broad range of nonwoven products used by consumers and industries alike. The Fortune 500 Company employs around 47,000 people and generated 12.6 billion dollars of pro forma net sales in the 2019 financial year, from operations across 290 locations on six continents.
